FAQ

Why "Three Points?"

The project began as a simple, singular mural, but as the project snowballed, the monster needed a name. After looking at a map where the initial mural project on Abell Elevator Co.’s property is, we realized that the intersection of Goss Avenue and Logan Street are where three neighborhoods meet - Shelby Park, Schnitzelburg, and German-Paristown/Germantown (it would have been Four Points, but Meriwether missed it by about a block).

The red star on the map below shows where the original project is located. The intersection is a highly trafficked gateway between the three historic neighborhoods that Three Points represents. These three neighborhoods have wonderful momentum in their respective neighborhoods, yet they are working together to make one great community - Three Points represents that union.

Who is behind Three Points?

Jennifer Chappell is the organizer/creator/project manager behind Three Points. She works closely with neighborhood leaders, artists, volunteers, local government, and local businesses to carry out these projects.

Without the support of neighbors and strangers, Three Points would not be what it is today.

How is Three Points funded?

Each project has it's own budget. Once a project proposal is put together, Three Points relies on a myriad of methods for raising funds:

  • Neighborhood Development Funds (NDF) through Metro Council
  • Crowd-source fundraising campaigns
  • Grants
  • Private donations
